The People We Support
At Havilah, we aim to provide our support to as diverse a group of people as we can. Our care is truly universal, as our highly trained staff can help those from many different backgrounds and with many different conditions.
Learning Disabilities
We support individuals with a range of learning disabilities, including mild to moderate, and profound & multiple disabilities. We aim to provide people with more choice and control over their own lives.
The support we provide is enabling, allowing those we support to fulfil their potential. We believe it is important that those we support are completely involved in the decisions which are made about their care. Our goal is to allow the service user to gain independence with their life. Our highly trained staff are able to do this effectively through careful planning.
Autism
Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them. People with autism experience stress much more often and more intensely than others. This can add to the difficulties they already have due to their autism.
Changes to routine and structure can be difficult for people with autism and can be triggers for anxiety. We ensure there is a regular staff team to build trusting relationships with the people they support. Staff develop a deep understanding of each person’s needs so they can identify and respond to changes, to avoid anxiety escalating.
